ABOUT ZARTOCHRESTIANISM a kind of Zoroastrian Christianity. CHALIPA CROSS The Chalipa Cross in a circle with often a small superimposed firepot in centre is the symbol of Zartochrestianism. FIRST SOURCE - PROTARCHE Protarche is the first source and God Transcendent. He is the incorruptible heavenly source of all that underlies our existence. He includes Zurvan (time) , Helius (divine sun) and the Pleroma (realm of divine forms). GODLY TRINITY - ZURVAN, MAZDA, CHRESTUS The Trinity are the three beings that together form what we mean by 'God' as an active being. ZURVAN Zurvan is the Time Lord, the Lord of what happens in Time. He is the Lord of Activity, the Lord of Happening. Ultimately Zurvan decides the course of life for all, but he is open to influence by us through our active wills. MAZDA Mazda is the Wise One. He (or she) is the creator of all things. CHRESTUS Chrestus or Christ is the Good One, the servant of life, seeking the wellbeing of the soul of the living world. Chrestus works through individual human beings - some more than others. NB We sometimes us the term Chreston (the Good Being) to denote the single Divine Christ where the term Chrestus could be ambiguous. ANGELS OF CHRIST The Angels of Christ are the Messengers of Christ who show us the will and nature of Christ. MITHRAS, ARCHANGEL OF CHRIST Mithras is the Archangel of Chrestus - the divinely appointed ruler of the angels and saints. He is the intermediary between God and Man, and fights against Satan. ANHITA, ANGEL OF CHRIST Anhita is the partner of Mithras. ZARTUS or ZOROASTER Zoroaster is the single person who best represents the incarnated Christ, for with him the idea of Christ came alive on earth. ------------------------------------------------------------------ THREE CHRESTORS (Three 'Do-Gooders' most worthy of worship) ZOROASTER Zartus Sapiens (Zoroaster the Wise) is the Philosopher Saint - the one who who has knowledge of the cosmos and can discern the best ethical world-view and give to us the best religion. Zartus is the foremost teacher of Mazda and Chrestus. Feast day is usually 26th March. ST.GEORGE Georgius Fortis or George the Brave is the Brave Saint - the one who fights courageously for what is right and accepts their own suffering and death could be a result. Feast day is 23rd April. ST.FRANCIS Franciscus Pauper is the Compassionate Saint. He is willing to give up his riches and become a pauper the better to serve the righteous cause. He has a special concern for the poor, the sick and the weak, children and animals. Feast day is 4th October. THE THREE MAGI The three magi or wise men given pride of place by Zartochrestians are: 1. ZOROASTER (circa 1000 BC) 2. PLATO (circa 400 BC) 3. PLOTINUS (circa 200 AD) The writings of these masters can be used as a foundation for the study of Zartoplatonism - the principle philosophical tradition studied by Zartochrestians. RELIGIOUS SCRIPTURE The Gathas of Zoroaster are the foundational scripture of Zartochrestianism. The following scheme is a possible way to extend these scriptures: 1. The Persian Scriptures of the Avesta and later Zoroastrian texts. For gnostics the Gathas Zarti (Songs of Zoroaster) and the Bundahishn (Creation) are especially important. 2. The Jesus Scriptures are selected from the Judeochristian New Testament and Gnostic texts of the same era. 3. Spiritual Scriptures are additional writings that shape our spiritual character. There is no agreement on what is included but the writings of Inayat Khan are a possible recommendation. 4. New Scriptures - there are modern writings of Zartochrestians - which have largely not been written yet. NOTABLE DATES 26th March - Zoroaster's birthday 29th September - Mithras the Archangel 29th October - Cyrus Day (secular event) Zorochristians may also celebrate the Mithraic Festivals of Ostara (Easter/Spring Equinox), Mithrakana (Michaelmas/Autumnal Equinox) and Yalda (Yuletide) and other dates.
