HEATHEN PARABLES - ONE

Once upon a time the people of the land were Heathens and roamed free. But the demon of Greed entered into a man and the demon of Cunning and he desired to possess the whole world for himself. So he learnt magic and the casting of spells. He entered the village and cast the spell of Magnus Pater. All the villagers thought him to be their father and they his children. Whatever he asked them to do they did. For they thought that their Great Father must surely have their best interests at heart, and they didn't want to risk his anger with their disobedience. The Man told the villagers they must work hard all the hours of the day and give half of everything they produced to him. Soon the Man grew wealthy and the villagers grew poor.

The Man said that they should work all the hours of the day and bring half of what they produced to the temple of the God. At the end of each day when the temple closed, the Man took the offerings home for himself. Soon the Man grew wealthy and the villagers grew poor.
