Overview

God

God is that which is of ultimate importance. We believe that there is something that is of ultimate importance, and therefore we believe in God. We believe that we should pay attention to and assign value (worship) that which is of ultimate importance, and thus we worship God.

Two things in particular are of ultimate importance. One is Reality. The second is The Good. In fact we believe these are not really separate because Good or Bad is not something purely subjective in the eyes of the beholder, but has a basis in Reality itself. Nevertheless there is a distinction because while Reality is something we must pay attention to, it is not always something to worship in quite the same way as the Good.

God may be seen as Reality and the Good. God may also be seen as that which connects humans to Reality and the Good. In this function God may change its appearance to suit the needs of different people.

The Tyche

The Tyche is the Agent of God as Reality. The Tyche is the Doer and produces the world from moment to moment. (NB Some may consider that Yahweh, the god of the Old Testament is a kind of Tyche).

Spentatria

The Spentatria or Holy Trinity are three Good Beings which are given pride of place in Chrestomazdaism. These are Auramazda, the Divine Wise Lord, (who is the primary Agent of God as the Good), Sarus Chrestus, the Human Useful One and Spentamentor the Bringer of the Good Mind.

Prosopa Chrestika

The Chrestika are three personalities of Chrestus, the Useful One. These are Sarus, the Listener, (often compared to the Divine Jesus and sometimes St.Michael as the leader of the spiritual battle); Anhita the Divine and Pure Mother (often compared to the Virgin Mary) and Mithras the Guardian of Social Order.

NB Sarus Chrestus is Sarus appearing in human form in persons such as Jesus Nazarenus. Sarus Celestius is Sarus working above the arena of individual people in the cosmic battle of good and evil. He can be imagined in the form of St.Michael the Archangel.

Runa

Runa or runes are important concepts that are useful in our thinking.

Thalia is Flourishing.

Artista (or Arta Thalica) is the (Ideal) Righteous Order or Righteous Progression of the world - a process where the actions of each fit harmoniously with the actions of others and the pre-existing nature of things. We believe it is the key requirement for a world which is congenial to life.

Dreg is deviation from the Good. Dolus is deception, trickery, fakery.

Magtas is mightiness, potency, capability. Chresis is usefulness or goodness in one's actions.

NB Please see the Zartian Agathism pages for further lists of runes

Sarokresis

Sarokresis or sometimes Sarochresis is Usefulness achieved through the process of listening and responding to need (Kreia) and motivated by the desire to see the object of need to flourish. It is what Zorochristians seek to attain in their work to become good and effective Chrestors or Saviours and change the world for the better.

The concept of Sarokresis is sometimes expanded into seven elements:
1. Kresis (or sometimes Chresis) - Usefulness; 2. Saritas - Listening/Harkening (paying attention and responding); 3. Humanitas - Good Mindedness; 4. Rectitas - Righteousness; 5. Magtas - Mightiness; 6. Gnosis - Deep Knowledge; 7. Societas - Alliance;

Frashokereti

Frashokereti is the 'Fresh-Making' or 'renewal of the world'. A related concept is 'Rectification' or the putting of the world into good order.

Good World Order

We seek to support the Good World Order across the planet earth which is our home. We imagine a Good World Emperor providing good management in those areas which can only be managed taking a world-wide approach. We imagine that there will be a plural political arrangement with many different polities or states across the earth each organizing their internal affairs according to their own wishes and customs with the minimum interference from the emperor or other political powers.

Cyrusson, the future Saviour-King

We look forward to the arrival of 'Cyrusson' or the 'Son of King Cyrus' to be the future saviour king and emperor of the world.
Cyrusson is a spiritual and cultural descendant of the historical King Cyrus the Great.

Kara Zartiana

The Kara Zartiana, (literally 'Zoroastrian Army') is the Zartian Corpus or outward-facing body of Zartians seeking to work for the good of the world. We can do this in particular by developing Sarokresis in ourselves and our neighbours.

Spada Pantalica

The Spada Pantalica or 'Army for the Common Flourishing' is the world-wide movement of those pushing for the Good World Order. It includes the Kara Zartiana who we imagine might be in the vanguard or in a leading role in the Spada. However all people of good will and sound judgement who are working usefully to support the common flourishing are a part of the Spada.

Scriptures

Our primary scripture is the Gospel of Zoroaster also known as the Zartigathas or Songs of Zoroaster.

Zorochristians may also be interested in other scriptures of the Persian Zoroastrians and of the Jesuchristians.

In addition we hope that new scriptures will be written addressed most precisely to the needs of the present day.

Scriptural languages.

The main scriptural languages are Avestan, Ancient Greek, Persian and English. As a general rule we will only use scriptures originally written in one of these languages.

For new scriptures intended for the whole Zorochristian community the acceptable languages are International Persian (Persian written in Latin script) and English.

Pentamagi

The Pentamagi are five wise men to which we pay attention for the assistance they can give us. Four of these have canonical status as the foremost teachers of the Good. Their work forms the recommended foundation for our own individual struggle to understand the nature of life. The Pentamagi are Zoroaster, Gotama, Plato ,Aristotle and Nietzsche.

Zorochristian Pictorama
Please note that the image below is slightly out-dated: Vaius has been replaced by Urvanitas to represent agency. Aura or Lord is usually spelt in full as Auramazda, and Spentaman is Spentamentor. There are now 5 Magi: Zartus (Zoroaster), Gotama, Plato, Aristotle and Nietzsche. Previously the Archangel Michael was associated with Mithras, but we now associate him more with Sarus. The slogan Eunoia, Eudaena, Eusebia means Good Thinking, Good Moral Vision, Good Devotion. An alternative might be Eunoia, Eusebia, Eukratia (where Eukratia is 'Good Rule' or 'good use of strength')
